Hello again! It’s the LAST day of fall decor diy week, can you believe it? I have been having so much fun, I’m a little sad to see it go. No worries though, I will be doing another one with all Christmas diy’s in the future. Tonights diy is, by far, my FAVORITE!! So let’s not waste anymore time and get to making a wall sign diy for all seasons!

Wall Sign Diy For All Seasons- Step One

Find your Wood- Ok, I know that sounds bad, and if you noticed that, then you are MY people! He He! The wood I used was from a old school house I was able to salvage. You, however, can go to your local hardware store and get two 1x4x8’s. They run from $4-$6 depending on the type of wood you decide on, I typically use pine.

Chop your wood- If you do not have a miter saw you can have it cut for you at Home Depot and Lowes. The measurements I used are 36 inches across the top and bottom and 16 inches for the sides. Once you have done that, you will need to give the boards a light sanding. **Remember the end product will be completely better if you take your time in the preparation.

Time to Attach- Let me tell you, one of the MOST important tools I have is my Kreg pocket hole jig!!! It is so versatile and allows you to join wood together easily. Now I understand you may not have one, so I would use L brackets to hold the corners together. So when you are at the store getting your wood, grab 4 of those, as well.

Stain or Paint- This is where you can let your imagination go! I used Dark Walnut stain by MinWax and I love how it turned out. You can chose to stain another color or paint the wood. Truth be told, I may still add white chalk paint over the stain and then distress it. I can not decide what I want to do yet! I know, life can be sooooo hard! Lol

Find your Tin- I was lucky to already have tin at the house. My father in law had a new roof put on his barn, but was smart enough to save all that BEAUTIFUL weathered tin. You can find corrugated tin at Lowes and Home Depot for about $25 for a 2×12 sheet. While you are waiting for the stain or paint to dry, cut the size you need for your sign. Once everything is dry, flip your frame over, place the tin on, and screw it down to secure it.

What’s your Sign- No, I’m not trying to ask you out! I ‘m only trying to say that you can chose any greeting you want for this sign. I attached magnets on my Thankful sign. So when Christmas comes, I can use my Merry Christmas sign, and then store my fall sign on the back for safe keeping. Is that not great or what? Micheals is a great place to find different words that range from $1 to $12. Although I have my sign inside, this would work great on a porch next to the front door. What a way to welcome your neighbors!
